Because of you, thousands of families in South Minneapolis experienced something rare: a place that's with them from the first day of school to the first day of a real job. From cradle to career.
Urban Ventures has been planted in South Minneapolis for over 30 years. Not as a program that passes through, but as a neighbor. A constant presence. What you see on this page didn't happen because of one organization or one donor. It happened because families did the hard work, Urban Ventures stayed present, and you made it possible.
Representing 3,400 households working toward something better for themselves and their families.
Urban Ventures delivered 177,000+ hours of programming across 15 programs in 2025. Hours spent learning, healing, growing, and belonging. And in program after program, the story wasn't just who showed up. It was how long they stayed.
Programs that saw growing participation also saw growing depth of engagement: more hours per person, more weeks of consistent attendance, more of the sustained contact that produces real change.
In 2025, the programs that grew didn't just add participants. They added depth. People came back more often, stayed longer, and engaged more consistently. That kind of sustained contact is where real change happens.

When I stepped into the role of CEO at Urban Ventures in April 2025, I thought I knew what I was joining. I had seen the programs, heard the stories, and believed deeply in the mission. What I didn't fully anticipate was how much more there was to discover.
This past year has been one of the most meaningful of my professional life, not because of what I brought to Urban Ventures, but because of what Urban Ventures revealed to me. The longer I've been here, the more I've come to understand what makes this organization genuinely rare.
It would be easy to measure our work by volume: the number of students tutored, families served, or meals shared. And those numbers matter. But the real story of Urban Ventures is about time. It's about the kind of commitment that doesn't flinch when progress is slow, because we know that good things take time. The longer we walk alongside a student or a family, the more likely they are to take the next step, and the one after that.
This year I watched that approach come alive in ways both large and small. From block parties that opened our doors to the whole neighborhood, to wilderness trips where small groups of students discovered something new about themselves and each other, I kept seeing the same thing: Urban Ventures showing up, fully, for the long haul.
As I reflect on 2025, I'm proud of what we accomplished together. And I'm grateful, genuinely grateful, to be part of an organization that never stops asking how we can lean even further into our mission.
The impact you'll find in the pages below is your impact too. You made it possible. And I hope what you see here confirms what I've come to believe: that investing in our neighbors is investing in our city, and that the returns are real, lasting, and worthwhile.
Thank you for leaning with us.
