Keep Them Launching

Make a lasting investment in a space where young people launch into careers, becoming a community asset for generations to come.

Make a special gift by August 31 to help us close the gap.

The launchpad is at 3017.

3017 4th Ave South houses Urban Ventures' workshop and training center. It's where Lake Street Works meets every week, preparing students for a career in the trades. With your help, it will be even more than that.

Right now, the space is leased. We have the opportunity to purchase the building, securing it for future generations of students. Ownership expands how we can utilize and adapt the space.

This training center is at the heart of our goal for every student in our neighborhood to graduate high school with a plan for what's next. Over 100 students are currently making Launch Plans, and 3017 is where many of them will gain the skills, confidence, and network needed for a successful launch.

What launching looks like

Meet Da'Kwon.

“I needed a new plan but didn't know what it should be.”

Da'Kwon was a junior in high school with a plan: play basketball, go to the league, buy his mom a house. Then two knee injuries ended that dream, and on Christmas Day, he and his mom became homeless. With no backup plan and no male role model to lean on, Da'Kwon found Lake Street Works. What started as a construction program and a meal became the launchpad for everything that followed: his first bank account, his first real job, college scholarships, and a career in construction. Today, Da'Kwon is a Dunwoody graduate and an estimator at Mortenson.

What your gift builds.

Every gift gets us closer to owning the building outright. No mortgage, no payments, no fear about relocating. But it's not about the building, it's about what happens in it.

A campus secured for the long haul.

Not only does the building become a permanent part of Urban Ventures' campus, but it also protects the safety and dignity of our block, ensuring a new owner can't put something harmful in the middle of our campus.

Owning the building improves our financial future as well. Urban Ventures will save over $100,000 by owning instead of leasing the property.
